Water polo is a team water sport played in a pool, combining elements of swimming, soccer, and basketball. Two teams of seven players compete to score goals by throwing a ball into the opposing team's net. Players must swim, tread water, and pass or shoot the ball while being closely guarded by opponents. The game is fast-paced, with physical contact allowed, but certain actions, such as holding or sinking an opponent, are penalized. Matches consist of four quarters, and the team with the most goals at the end wins.
